Box Score CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – The Thiel College men's basketball team held on in the final minutes to defeat the Thomas More Saints 84-82 in a Presidents' Athletic Conference contest Saturday.
Three Tomcats scored double figures, led by senior forward
Eric Mallinger (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice). Mallinger scored 20 points on 9-of-16 shooting from the field. Mallinger also pulled down a game-high eight rebounds.
Junior forward
Luke Kochka (Monroeville, Pa. /Gateway) came off the bench and recorded 19 points. Kochka went 6-of-12 from the field and drained 3-of-5 shots from behind the three-point arc.
Fellow junior
Khari Bess (Waldorf, Md./Maurice J. McDonough) scored 15 points and tallied five assists. Bess also stole the ball five times. Freshman
Avril Campbell (Dumfries, Va./Potomac) scored seven points and grabbed five rebounds.
Nate McGovney scored 20 points for the Saints. McGovney also had five rebounds and four assists.
The Tomcats shot 49 percent from the field and held the advantage in points in the paint (46-24) and second chance points (17-15).
The Tomcats (5-6, 3-1 PAC) will travel to Pittsburgh, Pa. on Wednesday, January 7 to take on La Roche College in a non-conference matchup. The tip is set for 7 p.m.
