Box Score 2 CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – The Thiel College women's volleyball team split a Presidents' Athletic Conference tri-match Saturday in Crestview Hills, Ky. The Tomcats began the day with a 3-0 (25-9, 25-19, 25-19) sweep over the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets before suffering a 3-0 (25-10, 25-18, 25-13) loss to the Thomas More Saints.
The Tomcats scored 11 service aces against the Yellow Jackets, four of which were by sophomore
Ashley Baer (Cambridge Springs, Pa./Cambridge Springs). Freshman middle hitter
Veronica Brueggman (South Park, Pa./South Park) notched seven kills while senior
Alex Hall (Norwin, Pa./Norwin) and junior
Hannah Budzowski (New Castle, Pa./Shenango) each notched six kills.
Lauren Downs (Mentor, OH/Mentor) dug out 16 Waynesburg attacks while
Jenny Shelley (Port Allegany, Pa./Port Allegany) registered 28 assists.
Kourtney Skinner led the Yellow Jackets with eight kills while Jessica Dorazio had a match-high 21 digs.
Hall and
Lenora Boyer (Delaware, Ohio/Delaware Christian) tallied five and four kills, respectively, against Thomas More. The Saints had 44 kills in the match, nine of which were by Felicity Britt.
The Tomcats (6-12, 3-4 PAC) will be back in action Saturday, Oct. 4 when they host a conference tri-match against the Westminster Titans and Grove City Wolverines. Thiel will take on Westminster in the first match at 11 a.m.
