ERIE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's volleyball team lost a hard-fought match to the Penn State-Behrend Lions Thursday, 3-0 (25-14, 33-31, 25-21).

Senior Alex Hall (Norwin, Pa./Norwin) and freshman Veronica Brueggman (South Park, Pa./South Park) each recorded 11 kills for the Tomcats. Hall also notched 10 digs to earn her fifth double-double of the season. Sophomore Ashley Baer (Cambridge Springs, Pa./Cambridge Springs) and senior Lauren Downs (Mentor, OH/Mentor) tallied 26 and 17 digs, respectively. Baer also added three aces for the Tomcats. Sophomore setter Jenny Shelley (Port Allegany, Pa./Port Allegany) had 30 assists in the loss.

Alyssa Samarco and Paige Scurpa each had double digit kills for the Lions. Hannah Sanders had 26 assists and three service aces.

The Tomcats (5-11) will be back in action Saturday when they travel to Crestview Hills, Ky. to take on the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets and the Thomas More Saints in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) tri-match. Thiel will take on Waynesburg at 1 p.m. and Thomas More at 3 p.m.
