MARIETTA, Ohio – The Thiel College women's volleyball team suffered a pair of 3-0 losses at a tri-match on Saturday against the Denison Big Red and the host Marietta Pioneers.

The Tomcats dropped their first match of the afternoon to Denison 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-10). Freshman middle hitter Veronica Brueggman (South Park, Pa./South Park) led the attack for the Tomcats with five kills. Senior Alex Hall (Norwin, Pa./Norwin) and junior Bailey Holmes (Roaming Shores, Ohio/Grand Valley) each had four kills while sophomore Jenny Shelley (Port Allegany, Pa./Port Allegany) dished out 18 assists.

The Tomcats also fell to Marietta 3-0 (26-24, 25-9, 25-18) in the final match of the tri-meet. Brueggman and Hall teamed up to secure six and eight kills, respectively. Sophomore Ashley Baer (Cambridge Springs, Pa./Cambridge Springs) had 18 digs while Shelley registered 16 assists in the loss.

The Tomcats (5-9) will return home Tuesday to take on the W&J Presidents in a Presidents' Athletic Conference match, which is set to begin at 7 p.m.
