Mahdi, Harrigan combine for 9 goals, 14 points against Kenyon

Emily Harrigan scored four goals and added three assists Saturday against Kenyon.
Box Score GAMBIER, Ohio – Cassy Mahdi (Odenton, Md./Arundel) and Emily Harrigan (West Hartford, Conn./Hall) combined for nine goals and 14 points Saturday, but the Thiel College women's lacrosse team suffered a high-scoring 18-14 loss to the Kenyon College Ladies at McBride Field in Gambier, Ohio.
 
Kenyon jumped out to a 3-0 lead on goals by Caroline Shipman, Alex Bair and Amy Morgan and led 10-5 at the half. Though they trailed by five goals at the break, the Tomcats won the second half, 9-8.
 
Mahdi led the Tomcats with five goals and two assists while Harrigan scored four goals and contributed three assists. Jenna Simanovsky (Plainsboro, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro North) also scored three goals while Hannah Stelmach (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) and Sharr Martin (San Diego, Calif./The Preuss School UCSD) scored one goal apiece.
 
Amy Boxer (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria) made seven saves for the Tomcats. Kenyon goalkeeper Meredith Bentsen also made seven saves.
 
Morgan led the Ladies with five goals and an assist while Allie McLane scored four goals. Shipman recorded a 6-point game (3G, 3A) while Bair scored three goals.
 
The Tomcats (0-5) will return to action Tuesday when they host the Hiram College Terriers at 7 p.m.
