Khari Bess (Waldorf, Md./Maurice J. Mcdonough) scored 16 points Saturday, but it wasn't enough for the Tomcats in a 71-62 loss to the Bethany Bison.
The Tomcats led the Bison at the half, 31-29. Bethany captured the lead early in the second half on an 8-0 run (45-37) with 14:43 remaining in regulation and never looked back, securing the Presidents' Athletic Conference win.
Bess tallied a team-high 16 points to go along with 5 rebounds, 5 assists and three steals. Junior forward
Eric Mallinger (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) led the Tomcats with 10 rebounds while adding four points and three blocks. In addition,
Luke Kochka (Monroeville, Pa. /Gateway) scored 17 points and pulled down four rebounds.
Bethany's Delonte Joyce led all scorers with 23 points, thanks in part to a 7-for-12 margin from the field. Leslie Addy and Ramel Young also chipped in 18 and 12 points for the Bison, respectively.
The Tomcats (8-11, 5-8 PAC) will travel to Waynesburg, Pa. on Wednesday to take on the Yellow Jackets. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
