Box Score WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Thiel College men's basketball team challenged Presidents' Athletic Conference-counterpart Washington and Jefferson College Saturday but ultimately suffered a 67-56 loss on the road.
The Tomcats lead the Presidents by four points (13-9) midway through the first half, but W&J used an 8-0 run to take a 17-13 lead with a 9:19 to play before the break.
W&J never relinquished the lead, as Thiel could get no closer than to within seven (56-49) with 5:30 remaining in the contest.
Junior
Charlie Thomas (North Warren Pa./Warren Area) led the Tomcats with 12 points. He also grabbed four rebounds, dished out an assist and recorded a steal.
Sophomore Khari Bess (Waldorf, Md./Maurice J. Mcdonough) scored 10 points to go along with three assists, three steals and two blocks.
Nate Bellhy scored a game-high 20 points for the Presidents while Tyler Haas and Brett Rubin-Goldstein chipped in 14 points, respectively.
The Tomcats (7-10, 4-7 PAC) are back in action on Wednesday, when they host the Saint Vincent College Bearcats. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
