EDINBORO, Pa. – The Thiel College men's basketball team fell to Division II Edinboro University 60-56 in a non-conference contest Tuesday night.
Junior guard Khari Bess (Waldorf, Md./Maurice J. McDonough) shot 7-of-12 from the floor to lead the Tomcats with 15 points. He also dished out a team-high eight assists, blocked three shots and came up with three steals. Junior Luke Kochka (Monroeville, Pa. /Gateway) scored 11 points off the bench and also pulled down five rebounds.
Also for Thiel, senior forward Eric Mallinger (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds and added eight points. Clandell Cetoute (Wellington, Fla./Wellington) and Josh Johnson (Monroeville, Pa./Imani Christian Academy) each chipped in six points apiece.
Three Fighting Scots scored double-digits led by Henri Wade-Chatman, who scored 18 points.
The Tomcats led 30-26 at halftime, shot 46 percent from the field and went 7-of-8 from the free throw line. Thirty of the Tomcats' points were scored in the paint.
The Tomcats (4-6, 2-1 PAC) will resume their conference schedule on Saturday, Jan. 3 at 3 p.m. when they travel to Crestview Hills, Ky. to take on the Thomas More Saints.
