ERIE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's basketball team earned its first win of the 2014-15 season Tuesday with an 83-76 victory over the Penn State Behrend Lions.

Jaclyn Watkins (Aliquippa, Pa./Aliquippa) earned her first double-double of the season with a game-high 24 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman Taylor Duchon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) scored 22 points and grabbed six rebounds. Point guard Kayla Welty (Portville, N.Y./Portville ) went a perfect 3-for-3 from the three-point line and scored 15 total points. Welty, Taylor Ketler (Dalton, Ohio/Dalton) and Erin DiFalco (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) each had three assists for the Tomcats.

Ally Burke scored 22 points for the Lions, including knocking down 13 free throws.

The Tomcats (1-2) will play their home opener Thursday against the Penn State Beaver Lions. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
