Watkins named to Betty Abgott All-Tournament Team

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Thiel College women's basketball was defeated Sunday 62-49 by the Hamilton College Continentals in the consolation game of the Betty Abgott Invitational, which was held at Buffalo State University.
 
Jaclyn Watkins (Aliquippa, Pa./Aliquippa) paced the Tomcats Sunday with 14 points while also securing six rebounds. Watkins was named to the Betty Abgott All-Tournament Team after she scored 33 points and recorded 14 rebounds during the 2-day event.
 
Also for the Tomcats, freshman forward Taylor Duchon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) scored nine points and grabbed six rebounds Sunday while junior point guard Kayla Welty (Portville, N.Y./Portville ) led the Tomcats with nine rebounds.
 
Sam Graber notched a double-double for the Continentals with 22 points and 14 rebounds. Serena Ward came off the bench to score 11 points.
 
The Tomcats (0-2) will return to action Tuesday when they travel to Erie, Pa. to take on Penn State Behrend at 6 p.m.
