Box Score 2 BETHANY, W.Va. - The Thiel women's volleyball team dropped two highly contested Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matches Saturday at Bethany College. The Tomcats fell 3-0 to Bethany, before nearly knocking off Saint Vincent in a 3-2 decision to the Bearcats.
The Tomcats began the day by falling to Bethany by the set scores of 25-18, 25-23, 25-18. Junior
Alex Hall (Norwin, Pa./Norwin) recorded nine kills, nine assists and six digs, while junior
Lauren Richey (Harmarville, PA/Springdale) added six kills. Defensively, sophomore
Bailey Holmes (Roaming Shores, Ohio/Grand Valley) and senior
Leanna Yeager (Poland, Ohio/Poland Seminary) led the charge with 3.5 and 2.5 blocks, respectively.
For the second time this season, Thiel and Saint Vincent went five grueling sets against one another. The back-and-forth battle went right down to the wire before the Bearcats took set five 16-14. Richey led the offense, tallying 15 kills. Hall recorded the first triple-double of her collegiate career, as she had 10 kills, 26 assists and 12 digs. Sophomore
Heather Reichenback (Erie, Pa./Harbor Creek) and freshman
Lenora Boyer (Delaware, Ohio/Delaware Christian) proved to be the Tomcats' top defensive performers after posting 25-to-19 digs, respectively. Boyer completed a strong all-around day with eight kills.
The Tomcats return to action on Sept. 25, when they travel to take on the Thomas More Saints in Crestview Hills, Ky. The match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
