WASHINGTON, Pa. – A four-goal third period helped lift Washington & Jefferson College to a 14-7 victory over Thiel in Thursday's 2013 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Tournament semifinal matchup at Alexandre Stadium.

Joseph Eck scored three goals with four assists to lead the Presidents (5-10) offensively. Tim Angell added six goals while Tom Starr chipped in a goal and two assists.

Robert O'Grady totaled five ground balls and won 16-of-20 face-offs. Defensively, Conor Crowe earned the victory for W&J, notching 12 saves.

Carmen Papa (Salamanca, N.Y./Salamanca Central) tallied five points on two goals and three assists to pace the Tomcats. Francis Ahia (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills) chipped in three scores, while Sean Loney (Linthicum, Md./North County) and Alex Casile (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) each added a score.

Ahia recorded four ground balls while Richard Cannon (Allison Park, Pa./Shaler Area) posted 14 saves in defeat.

Ahia's first score with 6:20 remaining in the first period pulled Thiel ahead 2-0, but four straight President goals made it 4-2 W&J at the end of the first period. After a Presidents' goal just 15 seconds into the second period gave W&J a three-score advantage, Loney and Papa each scored 18 seconds apart to pull Thiel to within one, 5-4, with 14:11 to play in the second period.  The Presidents responded by outscoring the Tomcats 3-1 to close out the period, taking an 8-5 lead into the half.

W&J went on to outscore Thiel 6-2 in the second half to claim the 14-7 win.

The Tomcats end their season with a 7-7 record, the first winning season in the programs' three-year history.
