The Tomcats tied the game, 1-1 with 5:25 left in the first period when Tim O'Shea scored on a pass from
Sean Loney (Linthicum, Md./North County). Thiel's second goal came in the second period as
Carmen Papa (Salamanca, N.Y./Salamanca Central) opened the period with a man-up goal on a pass from
Zachary Macurak (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) to give the Tomcats a brief 2-1 lead.
O'Shea's goal gives him a team-leading ten on the season. It was the ninth goal of the season for Papa, while Macurak registered his fourth assist of the year.
Sean Purtill and John Pingitore each scored five goals apiece for the Hawks (2-2).
Thiel's
Ryan Weldon (Centereach, N.Y./Newfield) faced 40 shots on goal, making 14 saves.
The Tomcats fall to 2-4 on the season. They will host Houghton in the Rissell-Schreyer Dome on Tuesday, March 26. The game is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
