Box Score 2 WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Thiel College women's volleyball team traveled to Washington, Pa. to take on Washington and Jefferson College and Chatham University in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) tri-match Saturday. After picking up their first conference victory of the year by downing the Cougars 3-0, the Tomcats fell to the host Presidents 3-0.
The Tomcats (1-18, 1-6) picked up their first win of the season by downing the Cougars (0-18, 0-10). Thiel took the contest by the set scores of 25-13, 30-28, 25-16. Washington and Jefferson (10-4, 3-4), which went 2-0 on the day, downed the Tomcats by the set scores of 25-17, 25-17, 25-16.
Thiel was led on the attack by freshmen outside hitter
Alannah Keisling (Englewood, Fla./Lemon Bay), who led the Tomcats on the day with 20 kills (3.33 per set) and outside hitter
Lauren Richey (Harmarville, PA/Springdale), who tallied 10 kills. Junior
Alex Hall (Norwin, Pa./Norwin) and freshman
Jennifer Shelley (Port Allegany, Pa./Port Allegany) helped out the offense with 26 assists, respectively, while the Tomcat defense was paced by sophomore
Heather Reichenback (Erie, Pa./Harbor Creek), who racked up 34 digs in the two matches. Reichenback also led her team behind the service line with a squad-high four service aces.
The Tomcats return to action Oct. 8 when they travel to Beaver Falls, Pa. to take on Geneva College. The match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start time.
