WASHINGTON, Pa. – The women's volleyball squad registered a 3-0 sweep of Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Washington and Jefferson College Thursday evening.
The Tomcats (10-5, 5-1), winners of nine of their last 10, earned game wins of 25-16, 25-22, and 25-22 over the Presidents (6-8, 1-7) and were once again led offensively by senior
Kelly Barzak (Warren, Ohio/Howland) with 16 kills.
Assisting on many of Barzak's kills was Chelsea Meister (Liberty Center, Ohio/Liberty Center), who totaled 31 assists while adding five digs.
Lauren Richey (Harmarville, PA/Springdale) chipped in six kills while
Olivia Sipos (Indiana, Pa./Indiana) added 12 digs from her libero position.
Alyssa Chine (North Jackson, Ohio/Jackson Milton) proved to be a key to the Tomcats defensive efforts, finishing with a team-high 22 digs.
Chine now has 1,082 digs for her career, the second most by a Tomcat dating back to 1989
Thiel returns to action on Saturday, September 29, when they host a PAC tri-match with Westminster College and Chatham University. The homecoming tri-match starts at 12 p.m. with Thiel facing off against Chatham, and concludes with Thiel versus Westminster at 4 p.m.
