PITTSBURGH, Pa. — The Thiel women's volleyball squad won its third-straight match with a sweep of La Roche, 25-17, 25-7, 25-14, in non-conference play on Wednesday night.
Alyssa Chine (North Jackson, Ohio/Jackson Milton) recorded a double-double for the Tomcats (3-4, 2-0 PAC) with 12 kills and 13 digs.
Megg Andrews (Canfield, Ohio/Canfield) and
Heather Reichenback (Erie, Pa./Harbor Creek) each had five kills to pace the offensive attack. Setting the hitters was the dual threat of
Chelsea Meister (Liberty Center, Ohio/Liberty Center) and
Stephanie Day (Millersburg, Ohio/Waynedale), as Meister had 17 assists and Day added 10.
Defensively, Thiel was led by
Alex Hall (Norwin, Pa./Norwin), who a recorded a team-high 15 digs.
Olivia Sipos (Indiana, Pa./Indiana) was the third Tomcat of the night to register double-digit digs, as she contributed 10 digs.
This weekend the Tomcats head to Meadville, Pa. to take part in the Allegheny Tournament. Play will begin with Thiel taking on Frostburg State on Friday, Sept 14 at 6 p.m, followed by a match against Penn State Behrend at 8 p.m. Matches will resume on Saturday with the Tomcats taking on the host, Allegheny College at 10 a.m., and conclude with a match against Case Western Reserve at 12 p.m.
