CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – The Thiel College men's basketball team dropped their second straight road game, this time a 73-63 decision to the Saints of Thomas More College, on Saturday afternoon in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
After going back and forth for most of the first half, the Tomcats and Saints saw themselves locked for the third time in the half at 26 apiece with 4:24 remaining. Thomas More then closed out the half on a 12-5 run, with five different Saints notching a basket to go into the locker room up by seven. Forwards
Blair Rozenblad (Youngstown, Ohio/Kennedy Catholic) and
Ladell Trotty (Cleveland, Ohio/Lutheran East) contributed most of the points for Thiel, combining for 21 of Thiel's 31 points in the frame.
Rozenblad and the Tomcats came out of the locker room swinging in the second half as Blair scored seven straight points in the first 3:20 of the second frame to tie the game at 38 all. Thiel would then take the lead at 40-38 on a layup by
Anthony Harvey (New Castle, Pa./New Castle) and stay out in front until 10:59 mark, when a Phil Feinberg layup put the Saints up one at 49-48. Thomas More would outscore Thiel 29-20 the rest of the way as they never again would trail on their way to the 78-68 victory, handing the Tomcats their second straight conference defeat.
Rozenblad was the lone bright spot for the Tomcats as he scored a season-high 28 points on the night to go with 17 rebounds. The double-double marked Rozenblad's tenth of the season. Trotty was the only other Tomcat to register double-digits with 13 points.
The Saints were led by Colt Stafford who shot an efficient 8-for-12 from the field on his way to a 24 point night.
The Tomcats will be back in action when the travel to Geneva College to take on the Golden Tornadoes on Wednesday, February, 8. The game is slated to begin immediately following the women's contest at 5:30 p.m.
