BETHANY, W.Va. – The Tomcat men's basketball squad fell on the road to Presidents' Athletic Conference foe Bethany College, 64-43 on Saturday.
Chace McKinney (Boardman, Ohio/Kennedy Catholic) led the Tomcats (6-1, 3-1 PAC) with 12 points and six rebounds.
A.J. Forbes (Lighthouse Point, Fla./Pompano Beach) added nine points and 11 rebounds while
Ladell Trotty (Cleveland, Ohio/Lutheran East) chipped in five points, 11 rebounds and two steals.
Thiel finished shooting just 15-of-46 (32.6%) but held a 35-32 advantage on the glass.
Nick Wilcox led the Bison (7-1, 4-0) with 17 points and seven rebounds. Leslie Addy and Brady Pacific added 12 and 10 points, respectively, while Addy corralled a team-high nine boards.
For the Tomcats, it is just their fifth PAC loss in 34 games dating back to the 2010 season. However, three of those five losses have come at the hands of the Bison.
The Tomcats never led throughout the contest, as the home team went on a 16-3 run in the opening nine minutes of play and didn't look back. Thiel cut the deficit to seven with 19 minutes left to play, but were able to get no closer as the Bison's Addy knocked down a three to make the score 31-20 with 18 minutes to play, marking the final time that the deficit was single-digit.
Thiel returns to action on Wednesday, Dec. 12 when they travel to Meadville, Pa. to take on Allegheny College. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
