Adams Scores Season-High 25 for Tomcats in 66-64 Win over Thomas More

GREENVILLE, Pa. – Devon Adams (Philadelphia, Pa./George Junior Republic) registered a season-high 25 points Wednesday evening as the Thiel men's basketball squad notched a 66-64 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) win over visiting Thomas More.

Adams finished 7-of-11 from the field and was 8-of-9 from the free throw line for Thiel (8-4, 5-0). He also added five assists and four rebounds.

Anthony Harvey (New Castle, Pa./New Castle) totaled 19 points and five rebounds.

Colt Stafford led for Saints (8-5, 3-2) with 16 points and six rebounds. Phil Feinberg finished with 14 points and six rebounds while Daniel Whelan added 13. Cameron Clemons chipped in with 10.

With Thiel grabbing a 22-13 lead on an Austin Forbes layup with 6:48 to go in the first Thomas More outscored the Tomcats 9-3 over the final 6:34 of the period, trailing by just three, 25-22, heading into the break.

The Saints came out in the second looking to establish Stafford down low, outscoring the Tomcats 25-17 over the opening 10:29 of period to assume a 47-42 lead with 9:31 to play. 

Down by five, 47-42, the Tomcats put together a 13-3 run over the next 5:41 to secure a 55-50 advantage with 4:50 to play.

Feinberg split a pair of free throws with just over one minute to go to tie the game at 59-59. Adams knocked down two free throws to push Thiel ahead 62-59 with 56 seconds to play, but Feinberg converted on a pair of free throws with 38 seconds to go to get Thomas More back to within one, 62-61.

Chace McKinney (Boardman, Ohio/Kennedy Catholic) connected on two free throws with 11 seconds to go to give Thiel a three-point lead, 64-61. Ryan Hamm hit 1-of-2 technical foul free throws with two seconds to play to pull the Saints back to within two, 64-62, but following a Thomas More personal foul and double technical fouls issued, Kamram McKaskill hit a pair of free throws to give the Tomcats a four-point advantage, 66-62, with two seconds remaining.

Feinberg's layup on the ensuing Saint possession concluded the scoring with the Saints falling by two.

Thiel get back to PAC action on Saturday, January 7 when it hosts Geneva College. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
