Box Score

GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Thiel men's basketball squad remained undefeated in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action on Wednesday, surviving a late Grove City College rally to slip away with a 56-49 victory. Ladell Trotty (Cleveland, Ohio/Lutheran East) (Cleveland, Ohio/Lutheran East) had the program's top single-game rebounding performance in over 20 years, finishing with 19 boards and eight points.

Trotty's 19 rebounds is his second 15-plus effort this season. He secured 17 in Thiel's 78-61 victory at Westminster College on December 7. It is also the highest single-game total since Erik Bielata finished with 19 rebounds to go along with 27 points in Thiel's 100-86 victory over Ohio University-Belmont on February 7, 1990. Trotty currently holds the top two single-game rebounding marks in the PAC this season.

AJ Forbes paced Thiel (10-4, 7-0) with 12 points, five rebounds, and three assists. Kamran McKaskill was the only other Tomcat to manage double figure scoring, finishing with 11 points. Blair Rozenblad (Youngstown, Ohio/Kennedy Catholic) added nine points and 11 rebounds, his seventh double-digit rebounding effort of the season.

Brett Matson led Grove City (7-8, 3-4) with 19 points and eight rebounds. Christian Durbin and Kris Verderber each added nine points.

A Matson layup with just under four to play in the first gave the Wolverines a 19-18 lead, but Thiel quickly responded with a 10-0 run to conclude the half, going into the break with a 28-19 advantage.

The Wolverine offense was on the attack early in the second, outscoring Thiel 12-2 over the first 5:49 to assume a 31-30 lead. The Tomcats would reclaim the lead moments later and despite a terrific effort by Matson down the stretch where was able to pull the Wolverines back to within one, 46-45, with 4:48 to play.

Thiel returns to PAC action on Saturday, January 21 when it hosts Waynesburg University. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m.
