OBERLIN, Ohio - The first season of Thiel men's lacrosse came to an end Saturday with a 16-5 loss to homestandong Oberlin.
The Tomcats kept it close early, trailing by a score of 4-2 after the first quarter. Following a pair of goals by Rob Bond, both assisted by Connor Jackson, to open the game, Thiel scored twice to tie the game.
Cameron Rako (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) scored an unassisted goal with 9:42 left in the quarter and
Taylor Zain (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington North) scored on an assist from
Francis Ahia (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills) a minute later.
Oberlin turned it on in the final three quarters, outscoring Thiel 12-3. Bond and Thomas Hake led all players with five goals in the game.
Zain would add a second goal for Thiel while Ahia and
Kaleb Rose (Bowling Green, Ky./Greenwood) scored once. Rako also had an assist.
Thiel finishes the season with a record of 2-12. The Tomcats opened the season with an easy win over Penn State Abington and recently added a blowout win over Bethany.
