GREENVILLE, Pa. –
Devon Adams (Philadelphia, Pa./George Junior Republic) registered 14 points, seven assists, and five rebounds in the Tomcats' 65-47 home opening victory over Penn State Behrend Tuesday evening at Beeghly Gymnasium.
Adams led an efficient Thiel (2-1) offense that turned the ball over just 12 times while totaling 17 assists.
Blair Rozenblad (Youngstown, Ohio/Kennedy Catholic) notched a team-high 17 points and eight boards while
Ladell Trotty (Cleveland, Ohio/Lutheran East) chipped in with 15 points, scoring 11 of those in the opening half of action. The Tomcats shot 44.9 percent (22-49) from the floor and finished edging Behrend 38-34 on the boards.
Russ Conley scored a game-high 19 points and corralled eight rebounds for Behrend (0-3). Evan Eaton added 10 points while Adam Palcic totaled five points and six rebounds. The Lions shot 30.6 percent (15-49) from the floor.
Thiel led from start to finish for the second-straight game and carried a 25-21 lead into the half.
The Tomcats pushed their second half lead to as many as 21 after beginning the second period outscoring the Lions 21-6 over the first 9:49.
Palcic's three-pointer with 4:37 to play trimmed Thiel's lead to 13, 55-42, but five points by Adams down the stretch helped the Tomcats secure the 18-point lead.
Thiel returns to action on Sunday, Nov. 27 when they travel to NCAA Division II Edinboro University of Pa. for a 3 p.m. game.
