Thiel Stays Unbeaten at Home

GREENVILLE, Pa — Thiel's men's basketball team remained undefeated at home this season with a 53-44 win over visiting Washington & Jefferson on Saturday.

The Tomcats blew an 11-point lead in the second half as Zach Bellhy put the Presidents up 44-42 with 6:28 to play. Coach Tim Loomis' squad pulled it together and closed out the game with an 11-0 run.

Blair Rozenblad (Youngstown, Ohio, Kennedy Catholic) scored five points during the stretch, Lance Randall (Canfield, Ohio, Ursuline) put in four and Anthony Harvey (New Castle, Pa., New Castle) closed it out with two free throws.

The win ends the first two-game losing streak of the season for the Tomcats and improves their conference-leading record to 8-1.

Rozenblad bounced back to form with a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds. Randall was the only other Tomcat to reach double-figures in the game with 11 points. Aundra Jones (Youngstown, Ohio, Kennedy Catholic) added nine points on 4of-5 shooting and contributed four blocks.

What Thiel lacked in offense, it made up for in defense. Just one Presidents' player reached double-figures in points with Brian Felker scoring 12. It was the lowest shooting percentage (28%) of the season for W&J. Devon Adams (Philadelphia, Pa., George Junior Republic) led the defensive effort with four of the team's 15 steals. Rozenblad and Harvey had three apiece.

Thiel still leads the Presidents' Athletic Conference by one game with five games to play before the start of the postseason tournament. Bethany, one of two teams tied for second place, will host Thiel on Wednesday.
