LATROBE, Pa. - Thiel dropped a 17-3 decision to homestanding Saint Vincent on Saturday, marking the first time the Tomcats lost to Saint Vincent since the Bearcats brought back their football program in 2007.

Berend Grube (Venetia, Pa., Peters Twp.) kicked a 26-yard field to give the Tomcats a 3-0 lead early in the second quarter. The field goal capped a 13-play, 61-yard drive.

The Tomcats would hold that lead until 1:56 remained in the second half when Joe Yezovich put the finishing touches on a 13-play, 70-yard drive for the Bearcats with a 1-yard touchdown run. Saint Vincent added a 25-yard field goal and a 3-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter while holding the Tomcats scoreless for the rest of the game.

The win for the Bearcats came on their Homecoming Day in front of over 1.900 fans.

Sophomore wideout Tyler DeJong (Columbiana, Ohio, Columbiana) had a big game for the Tomcats with five catches for 92 yards. Defensively, Bryan Villegas (Spring Hill, Fla., Springstead) picked off a pass for the second straight game and Ethan Ludwig (East Liverpool, Ohio, East Liverpool) led the team in tackles with nine.

Thiel (0-4) will play at defending Presidents' Athletic Conference champion Thomas More on Saturday.
