GREENVILLE, Pa.
– The Thiel College women's volleyball team was defeated in five sets by visiting Westminster College Wednesday night at Beeghley Gymnasium. The loss drops the Tomcats to 5-6 overall and 3-2 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC).
The game started off on the right foot for the Blue and Gold as the Tomcats jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after easily winning the first set 25-15. Westminster (6-8; 1-0 PAC) battled back into it and took sets two and three by the scores of 25-17 and 25-21, respectively.
The Tomcats earned a fourth-set victory by a score of 25-15, but it was Westminster that pulled out the victory by downing the Tomcats 15-10 in the fifth.

Kelly Barzak (Warren, Ohio, Howland) paced the Tocmats offensively with a team-best 14 kills. Sophomore middle hitter
Megg Andrews (Canfield, Ohio, Canfield) and junior outside hitter
Megan Kay (Girard, Ohio, Liberty) each totaled 13 kills, with Kay adding 12 digs. Senior setter
Madison Chylik (Valley View, Ohio, Cuyahoga Heights) chipped in with 47 assists and 12 digs.
Thiel is set to return to action on Friday, September 24 when they travel to Marietta College's Pioneer Classic. The Tomcats will take on Washington & Lee University at 5 p.m.
