Thomas More rallies to trip up Thiel men

GREENVILLE, Pa. (Feb. 17, 2010) – Thomas More took advantage of 18 Tomcat turnovers to rally from an early 22-point deficit and snap Thiel College's eight-game win streak, 103-94, Wednesday evening at Beeghly Gymnasium.
The loss was the first for the Tomcats in over a month and their first home setback since Dec. 12.
The visiting Saints (18-6; 9-3 PAC) turned Thiel miscues into 28 points in the contest and converted on 9-of-13 three-point attempts in the second half to outpace a red-hot Tomcat offense which shot at a 60% clip from the floor.
Thomas More shot 47.9% from the floor on the night and trailed Thiel by only nine (48-39) at the half, despite converting at a meager 38.5% rate in the opening period.
The Tomcats jumped out it its sizable first-half advantage mostly on the strength of 16- and 10-point performances by Sean Devinney (Arsenal, Pa./Central Catholic) (Arsenal, Pa./Central Catholic) and Devon Adams (Philadelphia, Pa./George Junior Republic), respectively.
Thiel, however, was hindered by seven turnovers which the Saint cashed in for 14 points.
Thomas More dug deeper into the Thiel lead in the opening moments of the second half and gained its first lead of the period on a Daniel Neeley trey at the 9:52 mark. The Saints' sudden proficiency from the arc in addition to the Tomcats' struggles from the foul line sealed the game's outcome.
Thiel hit on 15 of 24 opportunities from the line in the second half and was 18-of-28 overall.
Freshman Blair Rozenblad (Youngstown, Ohio/Kennedy Catholic) scored a game-high 24 points to finish the regular season with 24-consecutive double-digit scoring performances. The 6-4 guard has surpassed the 20-point mark 15 times this season.
Devinney ended up with 24 points and Adams finished with 13. Alan George (Brunswick, Ohio/Saint Edward) (Brunswick, Ohio/Saint Edward) and Lance Randall (Canfield, Ohio/Ursuline) each tossed in 11 points to round out Thiel's offensive leaders.
Daniel McKeehan paced Thomas More with 19 markers.
Thiel (14-10; 7-5) now awaits it draw in the first round of the Presidents' Athletic Conference tournament which gets underway on Tuesday.
