Women’s Volleyball Falls 3-1 to Thomas More in PAC Championship

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – The 2010 season came to an end Saturday afternoon in Crestview Hills, Ky. for the Thiel College women's volleyball squad as the second-seeded Tomcats suffered a 3-1 loss to top-seeded Thomas More College in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Women's Volleyball championship contest.

Thiel (22-11), meeting Thomas More (28-7) in the championship game for the second-straight season, earned a 25-20 first-set victory before being downed in the next three, 25-13, 25-14, and 25-16. With the win the Saints earn the right to represent the PAC in the 2010 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship as its automatic qualifier.

Junior outside hitter Megan Kay (Girard, Ohio, Liberty) registered 13 kills and 11 digs while freshman middle hitter Leanna Yeager (Poland, Ohio, Poland Seminary) added 10 kills. Sophomore middle hitter Kelly Barzak (Warren, Ohio, Howland) and sophomore outside hitter Alyssa Chine (North Jackson, Ohio, Jackson-Milton ) totaled six and five kills, respectively, with Chine adding 16 digs. Senior setter Madison Chylik (Valley View, Ohio, Cuyahoga Heights) posted 35 assists while freshman libero Jenna Samsa (Rittman, Ohio, Wadsworth) chipped in with 16 digs.
