PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Thiel College sophomore
Aundra Jones (Youngstown, Ohio, Kennedy Catholic) led four in double figures as he registered a career-high 27 points in the Tomcats' 77-68 victory over Penn State Beaver Saturday afternoon at La Roche College.
Jones posted 27 points to go along with six rebounds to lead a quartet of Tomcat double figure scorers. Senior

Blair Rozenblad (Youngstown, Ohio, Kennedy Catholic) added 14 points and eight boards. Senior

The Tomcats (2-1) shot 40.7 percent (24-59) from the floor and finished with a commanding 38-20 edge on the glass. Thiel was able to turn 19 Lion turnovers into 28 points and managed a 20-4 edge in second-chance points, thanks in large part to 21 offensive rebounds.
Penn State Beaver (0-2) was led by Billy Stoughton's 11 points. Nick Miller and Chris Weathers each added nine.
Thiel took an early 14-3 lead with just 4:20 gone in the first before the Lions responded with a 13-1 run covering the next 4:04 to take a 16-15 lead. After an opening half that saw five ties and four lead changes the Tomcats carried a one-point lead (44-43) into the break.
With the Tomcats unable to shake the Lions early in the second, sophomore
Anthony Harvey (New Castle, Pa., New Castle) knocked down a jumper at the 10:16 mark to give Thiel a 60-58 advantage, a lead they would not relinquish for the remaining 10-plus minutes.
The Tomcats return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 23 when they travel to Edinboro University (1-1). Tipoff at McComb Fieldhouse is set for 7 p.m.
