Greenville, Pa. – The Thiel College women's volleyball team dropped its first decision since September 29 as they fell 3-1 to Geneva College on Thursday in Greenville.
Thiel roared out to a fast start as they led in the first game by a score of 9-2. The Golden Tornadoes (23-4) came right back and outscored the Tomcats 24-15 the rest of the game to take game one 26-24.
Thiel would come right back in the second game and won game two 28-26. However, Thiel could not get past Geneva in the final two games as they lost 25-19 and 25-21 respectively.
Offensively, The Tomcats (17-9; 9-2 PAC) were led by sophomore middle hitter
Kelly Barzak (Warren, Ohio/Howland) who totaled 14 kills. Freshman libero
Jenna Samsa (Rittman, Ohio/Wadsworth) led the Tomcat defense with 28 digs.
Thiel will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Cleveland, Ohio for a tri-match with Case Western Reserve and Chatham. Play will start at 1 p.m.
