ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Thiel College women's volleyball team remained perfect at the Purple and Gold Invitational as it defeated SUNY-Brockport in straight sets.
The Tomcats got off to a quick start in the match as they won the first set 25-16. They quickly put Brockport away in the next two sets winning 25-15 and 25-9, respectively.
“We are playing well as a team right now,” said head coach Steve Brewer. “This is the kind of play we have been waiting to see from this group. Not just because we are winning, but because we are playing as one cohesive unit.”
Offensively, the Tomcats were once again led by sophomore middle hitter
Kelly Barzak (Warren, Ohio, Howland) who had a team- high nine kills and were led defensively by freshman libero
Jenna Samsa (Rittman, Ohio, Wadsworth) who tallied 25 digs on the day.
Thiel will finish play at the Purple and Gold Invitational at 4 p.m. when it will compete against Fredonia State.
