WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Thiel College women's volleyball squad registered its 10th-straight victory Tuesday evening, defeating Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Washington & Jefferson College 3-1. Senior setter
Madison Chylik (Valley View, Ohio, Cuyahoga Heights) recorded 42 assists and 14 digs in the win.
After dropping the first game to the Presidents (6-15, 4-8) 25-23, the Tomcats (17-8, 9-2) responded by winning the next three 25-11, 25-13, 25-20. The win in Washington was the program's first since posting a 2-0 victory on October 27, 1992.
Sophomore outside hitter
Alyssa Chine (North Jackson, Ohio, Jackson-Milton ) totaled 11 kills and 21 digs while junior outside hitter
Megan Kay (Girard, Ohio, Liberty) and sophomore middle hitter
Kelly Barzak (Warren, Ohio, Howland) each added 11 kills. Freshman libero
Jenna Samsa (Rittman, Ohio, Wadsworth) recorded a team-high 22 digs while senior defensive specialist
Stephanie Shipley (Mentor, Ohio, Mentor) chipped in with 16.
The 10 consecutive victories tie a streak head coach Steve Brewer and the Tomcats put together during the 2009 season.
The Tomcats are set to return to action on Thursday, Oct. 21 against Geneva College (7 p.m.) at Beeghly Gymnasium.
