WASHINGTON, Pa. (Jan. 30, 2010) – Thiel never trailed as it cruised to a, 78-68, Presidents' Athletic Conference win at Washington & Jefferson on Saturday. The victory snapped the Presidents' 10-game stranglehold on the series and raised the Tomcats' record to 10-9 on the season and 3-4 in league play.
Thiel needed just seven minutes to build a double-digit lead as they built a 12-point halftime lead. Junior Devon Adams (Philadelphia, Pa./George Junior Republic) led the way in the opening half with 11 points, thanks largely to a 3-for-6 showing from outside the arc.
Adams tossed in 11 more in the second half to finish with a team-high 22 points. From the field, the 6-2 guard was solid, shooting 7-of-15 from the floor including a 5-of-9 mark from long range.
Washington & Jefferson was unable to pull within nine points in the second half while trailing by as many as 19.
Senior
Cory Chaffee (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) fired in 18 points, while freshman
Blair Rozenblad (Youngstown, Ohio/Kennedy Catholic) earned his seventh double-double of the season with 15 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
Brian Felker paced the W&J offense with 23 points.
As a team, Thiel held a slim, 37-36, advantage on the boards.
