CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. (Jan. 16, 2010) – For the second game in a row and the fifth time this season, the Thiel College men's basketball team fell just short of tasting victory – this time against defending Presidents' Athletic Conference champion Thomas More. In a contest in that featured 13 ties and 10 lead changes the Saints prevailed Saturday afternoon, 91-88.
Thiel, which has now lost five games by five points or fewer this season, falls to 6-9 overall and 2-4 in PAC play. League-leading Thomas More, on the other hand, improved to 12-4 on the year and 5-1 in the conference.
Daniel McMeehan scored a career-high 33 points to pace the Saint offense, while freshman Blair Rozenblad (Youngstown, Ohio/Kennedy Catholic) led the Tomcats with 25 points to go along with 11 rebounds.
Rozenblad was one of four Thiel scorers to reach double-digit scoring totals on the evening, joining
Devon Adams (Philadelphia, Pa./George Junior Republic) (15 pts),
Corey Chaffee (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) (14 pts) and
Sean Devinney (Arsenal, Pa./Central Catholic) (Arsenal, Pa./Central Catholic) (14 pts).
Thiel returns to action on Saturday when it welcomes Saint Vincent for a 3 p.m. contest.
