GREENVILLE, Pa. – When Thiel College pulled to within two points of Bethany with just under 15 minutes to go in the game, the Bison turned on the jets to stampede to a, 77-63, win in men's hoops action Wednesday night.
Bethany out-rebounded the Tomcats, 41-25, including 18 offensive boards. The visiting Bison converted those rebounds into 15 second-chance points. Ultimately, Thiel's depleted bench was no match for Bethany's depth. The Bison out-scored the Tomcats, 31-0, off the bench.
Joe Testa paced Bethany on offense with 17 points.
Thiel (2-17; 1-8 Presidents') was led by
Cory Chaffee (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) and
Sean Devinney (Arsenal, Pa./Central Catholic) who each scored 15.
Brandon Mirizio (West Middlesex,Pa./Kennedy Catholic) and
Nick Sefscik (Allison Park, Pa./Shaler) added 12 points apiece.
The Tomcats kick off a two-game road swing on Saturday when they visit Washington & Jefferson for a 4 p.m. contest.
