Tomcats drop a heartbreaker at Geneva

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. (Dec. 5, 2009) – The Thiel College men's basketball team lost a heartbreaker Saturday afternoon, falling to Geneva, 79-78. With the loss, the Tomcats fall to 2-4 on the year.
In a game that featured four ties and three lead changes, Thiel rallied from six down with 1:22 to play and pulled within one on a Cory Chaffee (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy)three-pointer 21 seconds later. 
The Tomcats turned a Blair Rozenblad (Youngstown, Ohio/Kennedy Catholic)defensive rebound into a potential game-winning scoring opportunity, but Devon Adams' (Philadelphia, Pa./George Junior Republic)jumper as time expired was off target.
Rozenblad generated the bulk of Thiel's offense, scoring a game-high 28 points.
Freshman Aundra Jones (Youngstown, Ohio/Kennedy Catholic), Chaffee and Adams also turned in double-digit scoring totals for the 'Cats.
Adams also notched a team-best seven assists.
The Golden Tornadoes were paced offensively by Lambros Svingos, who scored 16 points.
Thiel returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Allegheny College at 7 p.m.
