LATROBE, Pa. (Dec. 2, 2009) – The Thiel College men's basketball team jumped out to an 11-point halftime advantage en route to a, 80-67, win at Saint Vincent College on Wednesday evening. The victory not only raised Thiel's record to 2-3 on the young season, but snapped the Bearcats' 28-game home winning streak.
Freshman
Blair Rozenblad (Youngstown, Ohio/Kennedy Catholic) once again led Thiel with an impressive scoring performance, tossing in a team-high 27 points.
Junior
Devon Adams (Philadelphia, Pa./George Junior Republic) played an outstanding game on both ends of the floor by tossing in 20 points and dishing out four assists, then notching five steals on defense.
After several early lead changes, Thiel gained a, 18-16, lead on a
Matt May (Oil City, Pa./Oil City Area) jumper at the 10:17 mark of the first half. The Tomcats would not relinquish their advantage.
Saint Vincent challenged only once in the second half, whittling the Tomcat lead to five with under seven minutes to go in the contest on a pair of Stephon Berry free throws.
Thiel responded with a 6-0 run to regain control of the contest and all but seal the win.
The Bearcats were led by BJ McGill, who scored a game-high 30 points.
Thiel returns to action on Saturday when it visits Geneva for a 3 p.m. Contest.
