NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. (Oct. 22, 2009) –Westminster College denied the Thiel volleyball team it's first shot at a 20-win season in a quarter century, by downing the Tomcats, 3-1 (25-18, 19-25, 25-21, 25-21), Thursday night at Buzz Ridl Gymnasium.

Freshman Alyssa Chine (North Jackson, Ohio/Jackson-Milton) led the Thiel offensive with 10 kills, while sophomore Megan Kay (Girard, Ohio/Liberty) (Girard, Ohio/Liberty) was close behind with nine.

Junior Madison Chylik (Valley View, Ohio/Cuyahoga Heights) (Valley View, Ohio/Cuyahoga Heights) set up 28 of the Tomcats' 34 assists to lead the team.

Junior Stephanie Shipley (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) registered 18 digs to lead the defense.

Thiel falls to 19-8 (8-2 PAC) with the loss, while the Titans improve to 11-18 (10-3 PAC).

The Tomcats travel to Pittsburgh to play Chatham at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
