BEAVER FALLS, Pa. (Oct. 20, 2009) -- The Thiel College volleyball team won its tenth match in a row Tuesday night at Geneva College. In what was Thiel's third five-set match in four games, the Tomcats prevailed, 3-2 (25-15, 27-25, 23-25, 20-25, 15-10), to improve to 19-7 on the season.
With the win, Thiel avenged a, 3-1, loss to the Golden Tornadoes in Greenville back on Sept. 16.
Thiel was led offensively by freshman
Alyssa Chine (North Jackson, Ohio/Jackson-Milton), who posted a team-best 16 kills. Junior setter
Madison Chylik (Valley View, Ohio/Cuyahoga Heights) (Valley View, Ohio/Cuyahoga Heights) sparked much of Thiel's offense on the night, putting up an outstanding 50 assists.
Chine also proved to be a defensive stalwart for the 'Cats, coming up with 31 of Thiel's staggering 132 digs.
Thiel travels to Westminster on Thursday in a key Presidents' Athletic Conference matchup. The constest get underway at 7 p.m.
