GREENVILLE, Pa. (Sept. 23, 2008) – The Thiel College women's volleyball team upped its President's Athletic Conference record to 4-1 on Tuesday evening, dispatching of in-county rival Grove City in three games (25-15, 27-25, 25-20) at Beeghly Gymnasium.
Freshman Megan Kay (Girard, Ohio/Liberty) (Girard, Ohio/Liberty) and junior Abbey Kiger (Mineral Ridge, Ohio/Mineral Ridge) (Mineral Ridge, Ohio/Mineral Ridge) led the way for Thiel with 12 and 11 kills, respectively. Sophomore Madison Chylik (Valley View, Ohio/Cuyahoga Heights) (Valley View, Ohio/Cuyahoga Heights) put up 30 assists in the contest to pace the Tomcats.
Defensively, sophomore libero Stephanie Shipley (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) came up with 20 digs. Thiel also notched seven blocks on the evening.
Tuesday's match marked the second time this season that Thiel (7-8; 4-1 PAC) has downed the dreaded Wolverines.
The Tomcats get back to work on Saturday at the Penn State Behrend Tri-match.
