MEADVILLE, Pa. – Thiel College dropped a non-conference decision at Allegheny in men's basketball action, 89-78, at the Wise Center Tuesday night.
Thiel fell to 1-7 with the setback, while the Gators evened their record at 4-4.
Allegheny held a narrow 35-31 advantage in rebounds, but shot over 56 percent from the floor to overcome the Tomcats. Thiel, which trailed by only four at the half, shot at a respectable 44.6 percent on the night.
Five Tomcats scored 10 points or more in the loss, led by
Cory Chaffee (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy), who fired in 16. Freshman Roddy Fuller poured in 15, while
Keebo Dowe (Martinsburg, W. Va./Edison Twp.) pulled down eight boards to lead Thiel.
Allegheny's George Raftis tallied a game-high 21 points, while racking up 10 rebounds for the double-double.
Thiel is off until Dec. 29, when it participates in a tournament at Wooster College.
