PITTSBURGH, Pa. (Nov. 17) -- Thiel College freshman guard Devon Adams (Philadelphia, Pa./George Junior Republic) (Philadelphia/George Junior Republic) and junior forward Keebo Dowe (Martinsburg, W. Va./Edison Twp.) (Martinsburg, W. Va./Edison Twp.) each scored 13 points in the Tomcats' 80-52 victory over Penn State Beaver in the consolation game of the La Roche College Cron's Clasic Saturday afternoon.
Adams also added a game-high nine rebounds and as well as a game-best eight assists. Freshman forward Tommy Hall (Youngstown, Ohio/Campbell) (Campbell, Ohio/Campbell) chipped in with 12 points and four rebounds while sophomore guard Nick Sefcsik (Allison Park/Shaler) also added 12.
Zach Fetchin notched a game-high 21 points and seven boards for Penn State Beaver (0-2).
The Tomcats (1-1) shot 55.8 percent (29-52) from the field and finished with a 45-31 advantage on the glass.
Up four (21-17) with just under seven minutes to play Thiel outscored Penn State Beaver 13-6 over the final 6:47 of the opening half and went into the break leading 34-23.
The Lions were able to get back to within 10 (38-28) with under 18 minutes to play, but an 11-3 spurt pushed the Tomcat's lead to 18 (49-31) with 13:55 remaining. Thiel saw its lead swell to as many as 30 before cruising to the 28-point win.
Thiel will play host to Penn State Fayette on Tuesday, Nov. 20 at Beeghly Gymnasium at 7:30 p.m.
