Randall Burnett

Randall Burnett is entering his eighth year as the head coach of Thiel College’s cheer and dance programs for the 2025-26 season. A proud alumnus of the program, Burnett has left an indelible mark on the Tomcat spirit legacy, transforming it into a nationally recognized force and a model of excellence in collegiate cheerleading.

Over the past eight years, Burnett has worn many hats within the Thiel athletics department—game day coach, competition coach, dance team coach, and Title IX Investigator—demonstrating his leadership versatility and steadfast commitment to the college community.

Under his guidance, Thiel Cheer has achieved remarkable success. Burnett led the Tomcats to a National Championship title in 2023, earned four top-three finishes at NCA College Nationals, secured a Regional Championship, and cultivated a culture of discipline, performance, and pride within the program.

Burnett also brings national influence to his coaching credentials. As a Head Instructor for the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA), he has mentored and inspired athletes across the country. His excellence has not gone unnoticed—he was nominated for NCA Rookie of the Year in 2019, named a Top Veteran Instructor in 2022, and was honored with the prestigious Dedication Award in 2024, a reflection of his unwavering service and impact within the cheerleading community.

A well-rounded educator and leader, Burnett is also an adjunct professor at Thiel College and a certified judge for the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA), where he judges both district and state-level competitions. His academic credentials include a bachelor’s degree in communication with a concentration in public relations and marketing from Clarion University (2012), and a master’s degree in communication and leadership from Thiel College (2022). Burnett was also honored in 2025 for winning the under 40 Distinguish Impact Award.

Burnett’s passion for cheerleading extends beyond competition—he is dedicated to growing the sport through youth camps, community involvement, and character-building mentorship. His work reflects not just a coach who wins titles, but a leader who inspires excellence in all aspects of life.
