Jim Patterson returns for his 24th season with the Thiel baseball program in 2023. Under Patterson’s direction Thiel has produced nine All-PAC catchers.
Patterson is a 1960 graduate of John Carroll University and is a retired athletic director and coach from Badger High School. During his tenure at Badger, Patterson coached both the men's and women's basketball teams, track and field, softball and baseball. He also coached the Jamestown Redbirds for five years and the Greenville Merchants for four seasons in the Mercer/Crawford County AA League.
While serving in the United States Army, Patterson played on an all-star team against the Korean national team.
He and his wife, Onnalee, have been married 58 years. They have four children and 11 grandchildren. His father, Red, is a member of the Thiel College Athletic Hall of Fame.
