Schafer enjoyed a standout collegiate career at the DII level for Davenport before capping his career at the DI level for Minnesota.

• NCAA Division II National Champion in the indoor and outdoor shot put (2022)
• Two-time NCAA Division II First Team All-American
• Eighth-best outdoor shot put mark in NCAA Division II history (19.89m)
• NCAA Division II All-American in the discus
• CoSIDA Second Team Academic All-American at Davenport (2021)
• First Davenport men's track & field student-athlete to earn Academic All-America honors
• NCAA West Regional qualifier in the shot put at Minnesota
• First Team Academic All-American at Minnesota
• Academic All-Big Ten selection
