Eric Visgitis

Eric Visgitis was promoted to Head Women's Volleyball Coach in June 2025 after spending the 2024 year as the assistant men’s and women’s volleyball coach.
 
Visgitis contributed significantly to both teams' successes. in 2024-25 as the women's team earned 17 wins—a 14-victory improvement over 2023—ranking as the second-largest year-to-year gain among all 419 NCAA Division III women's volleyball programs. Meanwhile, the men's team had a historic season, capturing a PAC Championship and making the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance.

Visgitis will serve as head coach alongside his twin brother and associate head coach, Luke Visgitis.

"It's an honor to be selected as the next Head Coach of the Women's Volleyball program at Thiel," Visgitis said. "Coaching alongside my twin brother is incredibly special. From high school and college to our professional playing careers, we've always shared the court. Now, we're excited to bring that chemistry to the sidelines and share the techniques and systems we developed during our time in Division I and international volleyball."

Visgitis played three professional seasons with VC Bitterfeld-Wolfen in Germany. Collegiately, he was a standout at the University of Mount Olive, earning All-Conference honors three times and being named a member of the schools All-Decade Team. He was also a Mount Olive Breakout Player of the Year and a student-athlete scholar nominee. He holds the program record for career hitting percentage (.436), the single-season record for solo blocks (26) and ranks third all-time in career blocks (281).

"Eric brings a championship mindset, proven leadership skills and a deep commitment to holistic student-athlete development," Isaac Collins. Director of Athletics, said. "His ability to connect with today's athletes while setting a standard of excellence makes him the ideal person to lead the next chapter of our women's volleyball program."

Visgitis graduated from Mount Olive with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management and Communication. He completed an assistant athletic director internship while at Mount Olive and has worked with USA Special Olympics in Columbus, Ohio. He was a youth volleyball camp instructor at Mount Olive and served as the assistant girls volleyball coach at Quigley Catholic High School in 2019.

Visgitis starred at perennial WPIAL and PIAA contender North Allegheny High School, winning a WPIAL championship in 2017. He also was a youth volleyball camp coach at multiple events at North Allegheny High School.
