Becky Scroger is in her fifth season as head coach of the Tomcats in 2021-2022. She led the Tomcats to six wins in 2019, the most since the 2016 team also won six games.

Her players earned seven all-conference honors over the last four seasons, led by Emma Polinski, who was a four-time All-Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) selection, including three Second Team nods. Polinski recorded 26 (9G, 8A), points during her career, the eighth most in program history. Polinski’s eight career assists tie her for the fifth most in program history, and her seven assists in 2019 are the third most in a single season in program history.

Freshman forward Taylor Warner earned All-PAC Second Team honors in 2021, finishing second on the Tomcats with three goals and six points. Forward Arlene Barreto earned All-PAC Honorable Mention honors in 2019 after recording 16 points (6G, 4A), the eighth most in the conference. Kaytee Candela and Nicole Pereksta also earned Honorable Mention accolades following the 2017 season.

A native of Rochester, N.Y., Scroger has coached at Division I, II and III levels. Most recently, she served as the assistant coach at Division II Seton Hill University in 2015 and 2016.

Scroger was an assistant at Division I Bucknell University during the 2014 season. She was also an assistant at Washington & Jefferson College during the 2012 and 2013 seasons.

The Seton Hill Griffins went 7-10-1 in 2015 and improved to 7-8-2 in 2016. The Griffins, who earned the program’s first regional ranking in 2015, were also successful in the classroom with a team grade-point average over 3.6.

The Bucknell Bison went 10-9-2 in 2014 and earned their first Patriot League Tournament victory since 2007 with a 2-1 win over Army. Scroger coached two all-conference players in 2014 and one all-region player.

The Washington & Jefferson Presidents posted winning seasons in 2012 and 2013. The team appeared in the conference semifinals in 2012 and maintained a grade-point average higher than 3.4 under Scroger’s assistance. Scroger coached eight all-conference players, two all-region players, two ECAC all-stars, two CoSIDA Academic All-District players and the 2013 PAC Player of the Year during her two seasons with the Presidents.

Scroger was a four-year starter at goalkeeper for the State University of New York at Fredonia. During her playing career the Blue Devils earned their first regional ranking, won a SUNYAC playoff game for the first time in program history and made three SUNYAC and three ECAC tournament appearances.

A three-time SUNYAC All-Conference Team selection, Scroger was also a three-time honoree on the SUNYAC All-Academic Team and Commissioner’s List. In 2007 she was named to the NSCAA/Adidas NCAA Division III All-Region Team and the D3Kicks All-New York Region Team.

Scroger holds six goalkeeping records at SUNY-Fredonia, including: Career goals-against average (1.03), single-season goals-against average (0.67), career shutouts (23) and career wins (37).

Scroger graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in visual arts and new media from the State University of New York at Fredonia in 2010. She went on to earn a master’s of business administration with a specialization in sports management from Seton Hill University in 2017.
