Brandon Litz was named Assistant Director of Track & Field/Head Cross Country Coach in June 2025.
Litz brings nearly a decade of NCAA Division III coaching experience to Greenville, along with a proven track record of elevating programs, developing championship-level performers, and creating cultures of competitive and academic excellence.
"We are excited to welcome Brandon to the Tomcat family as our new Assistant Director of Track & Field and Head Cross Country Coach," Isaac Collins, Director of Athletic, said. "Brandon brings a proven track record of building competitive programs, recruiting at a high level and developing student-athletes on and off the course."
Throughout his career, Litz has coached 24 conference champions, produced five national qualifiers and mentored four All-Americans and one Conference Freshman of the Year. His ability to lead both individuals and teams to success has earned him recognition as one of Division III's most promising coaching talents.
Most recently, Litz served as the Head Distance Coach for both the Cross Country and Track & Field programs at Wittenberg University. Under his guidance, the women's cross country team reached historic new heights—earning the highest regional ranking in program history and breaking into the national top 25 for the first time in 2023. Litz led the Tigers to the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Women's Cross Country Championship in 2022, while also coaching a national qualifier on the course.
Litz's impact was equally impressive on the track. He coached Sydney Khosla to a national runner-up finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 2023 with a time of 10:15.81, the seventh-fastest in NCAA Division III history. He also guided an All-American in the 800-meter run during both the indoor and outdoor seasons. Under his leadership, Wittenberg's women's teams captured back-to-back NCAC Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships in 2022 and 2023. Over his tenure, 20 athletes earned individual NCAC titles and 21 school records in distance events were rewritten.
"I couldn't be more excited to work alongside Coach Juarez and contribute to the growth of Thiel's Cross Country and Track & Field programs," said Litz. "There's a lot of potential here, and I'm looking forward to helping our student-athletes reach new heights."
Before Wittenberg, Litz held coaching roles at Franklin College and the University of Lynchburg, where he produced two All-Americans, two national qualifiers, four conference champions and a Conference Freshman of the Year.
He began his coaching career at Pike High School in Indianapolis, where he helped his 4x800-meter relay team qualify for nationals in 2016 and coached two relay squads to top-five finishes at the Indiana state championships.
Litz holds a Master of Science in Exercise Physiology from the University of Louisville (2013) and a Bachelor of Arts in Exercise Science from Franklin.
