Rianne Thornton is in her first season as assistant women’s basketball coach at Thiel College. A 2008 alumna of Trotwood-Madison High School, Thornton is no stranger to Thiel College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in media communications in 2012 with a minor in coaching.
Thornton’s 4-year career was among the best in Thiel women’s basketball history. She started 67 games and recorded 174 steals in her career, which ranks her sixth in the category on the career list. Thornton led her teams in both assists and steal percentages each of her four seasons with the Tomcats.
Thornton obtained a Student-Athlete Advisory Committee weekly award during her playing days and was nominated to represent Thiel College at the 2010 NCAA Leadership Conference in Orlando, Fla.
