Amanda Brewer is in her second season as the head coach of the Thiel women’s volleyball program.
Arriving at Thiel College as an assistant coach prior to the 2008 season, Brewer has played and coached collegiate volleyball at the highest level.
In her time as an assistant coach, Brewer was instrumental in the development and administration of the team’s strength and conditioning program, one that she has coordinated since her arrival at Thiel. The results from the implementation of her program were evident on the court, as the Tomcats went to the Presidents’ Athletic Conference championship game in three-of-four seasons between 2009-2012, which included one of the most successful seasons in the program’s 37-year history. In 2012, the Tomcats went 23-8, posting a .742 winning percentage, the second-highest total in program history.
In 2013, Brewer led a young Tomcat team that featured just two seniors, and saw Thiel garner an all-conference selection?(Alex Hall) as well as an all-tournament team selection (Lenora?Boyer).
A 2008 alumna of Youngstown State University, Brewer played four years at libero for the Division I Penguins. She collected 1,182 digs over her career, which ranked as the fifth-most in program history. She also spent the 2007 season on the YSU sidelines as a student assistant coach.
Brewer earned her bachelor’s degree in general studies from YSU. She and her husband, Steve, reside in Greenville with their son, Jacob.
