Steve Boyle ’07 enters his third season as secondary coach for the Tomcats. He will also serve as Thiel’s special team’s coordinator in 2014.
In 2013, Boyle coached two All-PAC defensive backs - Rob Edwards and Martae Hainesworth - as well as All-PAC honorable mention kicker Jon Fennick.
Before returning to his alma mater prior to the 2012 season, Boyle spent three years as an assistant at the University of Maine, where he coached the secondary as well as the running backs. During Boyle’s time as an assistant with Maine, the Black Bears boasted 1,500 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns on the ground over the course of the season.
Boyle was a defensive back on Thiel’s 2005 PAC championship team that qualified for the NCAA Division III playoffs. A threeyear letter winner with the Tomcats, Boyle is tied for fourth all-time on the school’s career interceptions list.
